Reshaping Brendan's World

Brendan

We are so excited to welcome Brendan to our ARK Family.

ARK Kid Brendan is a sweet 7-year-old boy with cerebral palsy, global developmental delay, and seizure disorder who is wheelchair dependent.
His parents were having difficulty carrying him from his main-floor bedroom to the upstairs bathroom, as well as lifting him in and out of the bathtub which he has difficulty sitting in.

The family wanted to move most of his care to the main floor of their house.

Brendan’s project was completed in 2024.

Reno Scope of Work

In this accessibility renovation, the laundry room and powder room were transformed into a wheelchair-accessible bathroom adjacent
to Brendan’s bedroom. This means Brendan can be transported by a ceiling lift sling onto a wheeled shower commode which supports
him sitting upright comfortably so he can better enjoy his shower, with less physical strain on his parents.

The size of the bathroom was increased by taking some of the garage’s square footage and by providing a stacked laundry system. This new space ensures that Brendan’s physical needs can be met effectively.

Feedback

The family shared their gratitude, stating, “This is going to be life-changing for us. Thank you so much. It means the world to us. We
appreciate all of you.”
