Ashley
ARK remembers ARK Kid Ashley who passed away in June 2024.
Ashley was a bright light to all who knew her. Her radiating smile would light up a room and infuse joy into everyone’s day. Ashley, a genuinely remarkable child, was loved deeply by her family and friends, and she loved them fiercely.
Although Ashley faced more challenges than most people, she faced them with strength and courage. In the words of her loving mother, “She is strong. She is brave. She is fierce. She is victorious.”
We take comfort in knowing that ARK, along with our partner SHIFT Accessibility, was able to provide Ashley and her family with an essential accessible renovation.
These improvements included installing ceiling rails in her bedroom for a ceiling lift, which Ashley lovingly called her “zipline” as well as a custom vertical platform lift, which allowed the family to bring her in her customized wheelchair seating to all floors of their multi-floor home.
These accessibility renovations enabled Ashley to be appropriately positioned in her wheelchair, to better engage with her family, and to be more easily transported to all areas of her home. No floor was off-limits!
This allowed her to share countless precious moments with her family.
Looking back, we realize just how meaningful those moments were.
